In April 2025 Resilience First was selected to deliver the London Business Networks for Resilience (LBNR) programme. This initiative is supported by the London Resilience Unit.
The LBNR programme was created in response to findings from the Resilient Business Networks report published by Business in the Community and London Resilience, which identified that while businesses are vital during emergencies, they are often excluded from local resilience planning. Only around 40% of national networks responding to the questionnaire were aware of Local Resilience Forums (LRFs), highlighting a significant awareness gap in access to risk information and engagement in emergency planning structures. At the same time, London faces growing risks (including terrorism, cyber incidents and climate impacts) yet many businesses across boroughs remain unsure of their role in preparedness and response.
Since its launch, the LBNR programme has delivered four events, an online library of resources, a video series and monthly newsletters, and has convened an advisory group to help networks better understand risks and implement practical resilience actions.
Engagement has been strong, involving 53 business networks operating across 23 boroughs, with an estimated reach of over 6000 SMEs, supported by sustained communications and cross-network collaboration. Participants particularly value events, networking opportunities and access to trusted expertise.
